At the Carnival, people of all ages dress up in elaborate costumes and masks. Did you know the tradition of wearing masks dates back centuries? It was originally a way for people to enjoy the festival while protecting their identity and removing their social differences. Today, wearing masks is still a big part of the Carnival and adds to the excitement of the event.
There are many different types of masks that you can see at the Carnival of Venice, each with its own unique design and significance. Materials Need
- Foam Sheet
- Glitter foam sheet
- Feathers
- Scissors
- Ribbon
- Pencil
- Glue
Step 1
Draw the outline of your mask on the foam sheet. Fold in half and cut along the edge. Repeat with the glitter foam sheet in a smaller size.
Step 2
Glue glitter mask on top of colored mask. Let's decorate! Add feathers, jewels, or anything you want to make it your own!
Step 3
Glue ribbon to the edges so you can tie them together behind your head to hold the mask in place.
Step 4
Put your mask on and enjoy the carnival! Feel free to change color combinations, take away or add decorations! Get as creative as you can.
