Looking for a refreshing and kid-friendly drink for summer? Don't worry we found one for you! Aguas Frescas (Spanish for "cool waters" or "fresh waters") are a refreshing beverage the whole family can have! This drink has been around since the pre-Columbian era several centuries ago. In the 1940's it was a popular street-market staple sold on street carts! A few common fruits to include are mango, pears, passion fruit, strawberry, pineapple, cucumber, and guava and today we are making a Watermelon Agua Fresca!
- 8 large dates
- 1 cup water
- 4 cups of watermelon
- Lemon juice from 1 lemon
- 8 sprigs of fresh mint (optional)
Step 1Begin by soaking the dates in a cup of water. Set aside and cut your watermelon up into small chunks.
Step 2Once everything is cut up, begin pouring, one by one, into the blender. Blend until everything is blended fully together.
Strain the liquid and repeat again with the remaining watermelon.
Pour a glass, garnish, and enjoy!
